wooden it be lovely

Want to have a meaningful experience, special time to spend with friends or family, and a convenient way to help out in the community?

Wooden It Be Lovely is excited to announce that we will be hosting private paint parties on Thursday evenings this fall. Our paint parties are held at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. The first 30 minutes consists of a presentation about the program, and one of our associates will tell their story. Following the presentation, the group will be lead upstairs to our paint studio, where there are projects already setup and ready to be started. This really helps our associates and volunteers by getting some work ready for the next week. We like to compare our parties to those where the guests paint a canvas and drink a glass of wine. We may not have wine, but the volunteers leave with the satisfaction of doing something good for others, while making a difference and bonding with close friends and family. Book your party today by calling 217.546.4631 and get excited, we can't wait to paint with your group!

Please Meet Our Volunteers: Mike & Paula

Mike and Paula are an amazing volunteer couple. One of Mike's hobbies is woodworking. Paula was an art teacher and loves all things artistic, especially painting. They came to Wooden It Be Lovely after reading about the ministry in the Springfield’s Own (SO) Magazine. Mike says that when he was reading the article, he immediately said to Paula, “they need us, I bet they are getting furniture that needs a bit of repair.  I can help them with my woodworking gifts and you can help them paint”. Mike and Paula have been volunteering once a week for several months and have added to the ministry in so many way. The Associates just love them and have learned so much from them. Paula says, “I have been blessed in my life and I believe giving back to the community is my way of glorifying God.”
