If all Women Had Hope?

A Ministry of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church

 our mission >>>

restored furniture

Wooden It Be Lovely is a social enterprise designed to help mothers in need.

Wooden It Be Lovely’s mission is to offer hope and employment to mothers healing from lives of poverty, addiction, and abuse. We do this by providing transitional employment, mentoring, recovery tools, education, community networking, childcare, and community. The mothers are employed to refurbish and sell donated wooden furniture alongside church and community volunteers while their young children are cared for onsite. This transitional employment empowers mothers to move towards lives of economic stability and enhanced well- being for themselves and their children.

About Our SHOWCASE Sales

The furniture sales are more than a sale, they are a showcase! Such beautiful pieces and artfully done. Our associates are employed to refurbish donated wooden furniture, which they sell at the WIBL community wide sale events. Each piece is styled in a room environment. Coordinating decor, and apparel, pillows, and stationery is available for purchase. Come early- we sell out quickly!

Please park in the lot located on the South side of the church. Enter the sale from the courtyard door.

About our Paint Parties

Furniture Priming Party- Wouldn’t you like to gather your friends and paint furniture along side a WIBL Associate? The Associate will give you step by step instructions as she tells you about the program and shares her story. This party is free and it helps the program by decreasing payroll cost. When you help by painting and priming the women can get started on the finishing touches. And- it is a lot of fun! No experience needed, just a heart for helping others. (Most parties are scheduled on a Thursday evening 6pm-8pm). Call 546-4631 to schedule.

Stepping Up Party- Sometimes women just need a “STEP-UP”. How about hosting a Stepping Up Party? Gather your friends and pick a location (your house, the church, or a public place) and we will bring the step stools, paint, supplies, and an instructor. You will go home with your hand-painted step stool masterpiece.Cost is $40. The stools make great gifs. Call 546-4631 to schedule. It is so much fun! (Most parties are scheduled on a Thursday evening 6pm-8:15pm)

Sales AND Paint Parties are FUN. we are grateful for your support!

Introducing malia: "Wooden it be lovely helped my son and I when we needed it most...

Malia's Story

Wooden It Be Lovely and Douglas Avenue Church supported me in so many ways.

While living in a shelter, I was able to work at the ministry and save my paychecks. My son and I have received so much support from this program. The money I saved helped me get my drivers license, and I now have a car and my own apartment." -Malia
